any thanks to you for choosing this month's edition of Sun Monthly. We are working hard to meet and hopefully exceed your expectations. Something must be going right: we're having trouble keeping all the boxes and racks full even while expanding distribution. We realize you have many choices and are very thankful you have chosen to spend some time with us in the pages of this Sun Monthly world.

Our goal is to inform and entertain you with thoughts, concepts and ideas not generally found elsewhere — to give you something to think about. Our intention is to be creative and innovative by adding to your life in an informative and substantive way.

We appreciate many things about this publication. First and foremost, we appreciate the advertisers and the writers. We are aware of the loyalty of many longtime advertisers who have supported Sun Monthly, and we thank them. In order to give something more in return, we have gone to a heavier, whiter paper and have added considerable color throughout the magazine. The writers write for the love of writing, and it shows. As entrepreneurs ourselves, we intend to support the many individuals and small businesses in the Santa Fe region.

As May was our "feminine" issue, in June we focus on men. Take a look at our fabulous cover. What is the man trying to "cover up"? The bull behind the drape is clearly evident. Are their areas of our lives that we are avoiding? Is there perhaps an opportunity for us to acknowledge and move through a challenging situation?

We go on to hear from six local Santa Fe men, who share their passions, challenges and visions for the future; you'll likely know and be inspired by some of them! Several of our columns address male-related issues as well, and noted photographer Chuck West presents a photo collection of cowboys.

In June, we also enter into the exciting world of the Santa Fe Opera and its 2008 season; what a wonderful preview for this internationally acclaimed event right here in our town! We spend some time with well-known author Michael Pollan, who speaks out on how food and eating are marketed to American consumers. The issue continues with engaging, informative articles on hiking and relationships.

Take a look at our new Sun Living section, appearing for the first time in the May issue: everything for the home from local vendors of spectacular originality and quality. We have received a great response to this from both readers and advertisers. The section opens with doors from La Puerta and closes with a beautiful presentation from Heart of the Lotus Interiors on creating your own sacred space.

The whole notion of sacred space got us to thinking: Since Sun Monthly has a very creative, not to mention conscious, readership, what about making a space right here in the magazine that allows readers to share their very own special place where they go for inspiration, contemplation or renewal? We invite you to send us a photo and a brief description of your "inspirational place," and we'll consider publishing it in one of our upcoming issues. (See details at the end of our Sun Living section.)

Settle back and enjoy.
